I have been seeing a lot of articles, videos and debates about breastfeeding in public lately on social media. Whether you are for it or against it here are my thoughts.
Boob Talk
What's best for your baby?
Breastfeeding?
Formula feeding?
What's best for you baby is to be EATING!! It doesn't matter if you are a breastfeeding mamma or a formula feeding mamma. As long as your baby is eating, do what makes you feel comfortable.
Breastfeeding isn't for everyone. Every woman has their own reasons for breastfeeding or not. Some women produce lots of milk and some women don't produce enough milk. Either way breastfeeding is hard. Why make it harder?
In my experience it is way harder to use a cover when feeding Averi. I can't see her, I can't tell if she is latched on correctly, she doesn't like things on her head so she is ripping and pulling at the cover instead of eating...the list goes on and on.
There was a time when I wasn't sure if I wanted to breastfeed or not, if I wanted to deal with feeding my child in public. I very quickly got over that and realized that when I nurse in public I am not showing anymore "inappropriate skin" then the woman sitting next to me wearing a low cut shirt.
During summer months it is socially acceptable to wear short shorts, low cut shirts with cleavage showing, and high-cut, belly- showing shirts. I see more skin on television, Facebook or when I walk out my front door; yet women who have a breast partially exposed, which is completely covered by their baby's head, makes people feel "uncomfortable"?! Are you kidding me?! Get real! Those same people who complain or are "uncomfortable" about a woman breastfeeding sure aren't whining about women showing "too much skin" or being "uncomfortable" about how women dress during the summer months.
Each momma is different, and you have to do what works best for you and what makes you feel the most comfortable. If that's nursing in private, nursing in public or nursing covered, Great!! Do what works best for you and your little one!
I don't mind nursing in public. It doesn't bother me, and I don't worry about it making other people feel "uncomfortable." If you don't like it, then don't look. Keep going on about your own business. In less than 15 minutes my baby will be done eating, and you won't have to feel "uncomfortable" anymore. People don't like a screaming baby, and people don't like women nursing in public. You get one or the other.
Almost all states protect you if you choose to nurse in public. Here is a link on Breastfeeding State Laws. Here is also a quick little article that I found helpful in different nursing situations. Here is a great video about one moms response to being asked to breastfeed in a bathroom.
I have always ben a bachelor fan. My favorite bachelor so far has ben Sean Lowe! He is such a stud! His whole season I was rooting for Catherine! I really liked Sean and her together. They are my favorite bachelor couple of all time! I can't wait until they have babies!!
I love that Ben Higgins is the 2016 bachelor. He is probably my second favorite bachelor of all time. After last nights episode (episode 3) I have finally chosen my top 4 picks for this season.
Becca Tilley
Becca is 26 years old and works as a chiropractor assistant. She is from San Diego, California. I really like Becca and I think she will be in the top 4 with Ben. I like that she has morals and is down to earth. Becca is a little more shy and reserved but I could see her and Ben together in the end.
Lauren Bushnell
Lauren is 25 years old and works as a flight attendant. She lives in Las Angeles California. I also really like Lauren and could see her and Ben together. She seems normal and not crazy yet has a fun side to her. She is more out going then Becca. I think she is the "type of girl" that Ben is into.
Jubilee Sharpe Jubliee is 24 years old and was in the Army for 4 1/2 years. She lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Jubilee is probably one of my favorites rights now. I love that she is a strong outspoken woman. I love that she doesn't put up with crap from people yet she isn't in everybody's face. She is a little more reserved and shy. I think Ben really likes her at this point. Even though I really like Jubilee I don't really see her and Ben being the perfect match. I just don't see them together. Maybe she will be the next bachelorette!!
Olivia Caridi
Olivia is 23 years old and is currently living in Virginia. She works as a news reporter. Olivia received the first impression rose. I really liked her the first episode...she seemed normal. I now can't stand her. She is rude, crazy, loud, has a HUGE mouth, and did I mention CRAZY!! I really hope for Ben's sake that he does not pick her. My love for the bachelor may die a little if she is chosen.
I'm finally getting our first Christmas up on the blog! Steve and I have been married for five years! Ever since we have been married we have gone back to to my family for Christmas break. This year we aren't students anymore so we didn't get a Christmas break. Instead of going back to my family we decided to stay in our home and have our first Christmas with just the three of us.
Averi loved the Christmas tree and all of the shiny lights. But most of all she loved all of the crackly wrapping paper. She would open 3 or so presents and play with the paper and then be completely worn out. Opening presents is a lot of excitement and work for a five month old. She took lots of naps and even cuddled with daddy.
We sent out our first family Christmas card! I really loved making it and choosing all of the pictures of our little family.
