Happy Birthday America

Red, White and Blue!

I'm so grateful to live in this country and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I am proud to be an American! Our freedoms are free because of those brave men and women who fight for our rights everyday. Happy Birthday America!

To start off our 4th of July weekend on Saturday, Averi had a fun photoshoot with the American flag that she loved. You can see that post here: Red, White & Blue. She loves being outdoors and playing with rocks, dirt and bugs.

On Monday we went to the Rockies baseball game. This will be one of our families new 4th of July traditions.

But first we walked downtown. We need to take Averi downtown more often because she was looking at everything. She would tell us every bike that went by, every time she saw "daddy's bus" and "another daddy's bus". She also loved showing us the hands on the crosswalk signs.

Once we were done walking downtown we headed to the baseball game. I'm not really a baseball fan but the environment is always fun and the best part was the fireworks. We always buy the rock pile tickets because they are the cheapest. When they do fireworks our seats get to move to the field to watch. It. Was. AMAZING! We were so close to the fireworks we could taste the smoke and ash. You could also feel the booming and shaking every time they went off.

The show was so good. This was the first show of fireworks that Averi has seen and she loved every second of it. She just stared as each firework exploded and every boom was made. She loved telling us that the fireworks made a "big big boom". She was worn out and slept really well that night.

If you look close enough you can see Steve in the background of this picture.

On July 4th we all slept in and had a relaxing morning. We wanted to go to a parade but miss sleepy head Averi was too tired from all the activities from the day before. After nap time we went to a BBQ with friends, good food, trampolines, slides, water fights and cute kids.

Averi has a blast playing with water. She is kind of like a little fish. She played with water balloons and squirt guns and splashing the other kids. She loves playing with her little baby friends. It's so cute to watch them talk, laugh and play together.

After the BBQ we headed to watch the cities fireworks. The spot we found was pretty good. A friend tipped us off to it. We could see fireworks in front of us, behind us and on both sides of us. These fireworks lasted about half an hour and the finale was pretty amazing. And it only took us 30 minutes to get home with all of the traffic.

We had a pretty good 4th of July. Some of my favorite moments were watching Averi take in every moment of downtown, the Rockies game and all of the fireworks!

And to top off this holiday, Steve and I have been together for 10 years! That's a pretty long time.
